Take away from your internship at OTR:
Throughout my OTR Global internship I was given great exposure to the financial sector, establishing a working vocabulary of important financial terms and gaining a thorough understanding of the equity research industry. A unique aspect of OTR’s internship is the access to senior management. I had daily interaction with senior management and worked closely on different projects. Next summer I’m working at Bank of America in GWIM, which I think my internship at OTR Global really paved the way for.

Take away from your internship at OTR:
The OTR internship has provided me with the exposure to various facets of the Financial Research Industry. This position has allowed me to work on projects for the marketing department, assist the sales staff with prospecting clients, and work with the management team on various business development assignments. I have been able to observe and put into perspective how the Buy and Sell side firms interact with one another as well as the day to day routine of the sales staff and operations staff. As someone interested in pursuing a career in finance, I have gained valuable skills and knowledge in understanding the markets and data analysis. Many of the projects I was assigned dealt with data from OTR’s proprietary portal. I have sharpened my ability to manipulate Excel formulas to analyze large data sets as well as my ability to present them to superiors in a succinct and appealing manor. Some of these projects include constructing a pipeline illustrating the size and demand of potential OTR clients and measuring the impact OTR Research has on a given ticker on its release date.

The entire team at OTR is extremely pleasant to work with as well as interested in your success. On numerous occasions I have used my connections with the people I work with here for career advice and best practices moving forward. I believe this experience is a great stepping stone to anyone interested in pursuing a career in the financial services industry.
