PART-TIME GENERALIST HEALTHCARE REPORTER

POSITION

The Reporter is a part time project-based position investigating trends in Healthcare. This person will work closely with the Healthcare Managing Editor to provide relevant and timely marketplace intelligence for the global investment community on therapeutics, medical devices, medical services, etc.

Long term, part-time employment of approximately 20-25 hours a week to start. Fees are competitive, expense reimbursement, no benefits. MS Word, Excel proficiency are a must. This is a telecommuting position.

 PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:

  • Sharp, quick learner, detail oriented, meet deadlines, both a team player and able to work independently on projects.

  • Patience and engaging phone personality, 90% of job is seeking out sources (primarily physicians) and conducting phone interviews; 10% analyzing data and writing.

  • Strong writing, researching and interviewing skills and ability to connect the dots a must.

  • Experience in medical journalism, investigative reporting, or as a drug rep as well as cold-calling required.

  • Solid understanding of the industry, experience writing for trade publications, or as a drug rep, and a proven ability to identify and obtain interviews with key physician sources.

INTERN - FALL 2018

POSITION

The Fall 2018 undergraduate interns will work on a variety of business related and marketing projects with the CEO and other senior management.  This role allows for great autonomy, flexibility, and hands on learning.  The intern will have exposure to the financial services industry and the entrepreneurship of a high growth business within a highly competitive market.  Paid internship and interns must be able to prove they are able to be legally employed. The internship is in Purchase, NY. $11/hour.

QUALIFICATIONS  

  • History of success and hard work exemplified in previous work experience, academics, athletics, or other activities

  • Strong MS Office skills with emphasis on PowerPoint and Excel

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Strong Internet research ability

  • Strong writing and verbal skills

  • Applicant must be enrolled, full time in college and must have finished freshman year.

  • Applicants must be able work for 10-12 consecutive weeks for 40 hours per week

  • Students will be responsible for their own housing and transportation during the internship

QUANTITATIVE FINANCIAL RESEARCH INTERN  - FALL 2018

  • Experience with data modeling, quantitative analysis, investment data, alternative data

FULL-TIME CONSUMER RETAIL CHINA RESEARCHER

THE ROLE

The Consumer Retail Researcher will work closely with Editor, China Consumer, to provide relevant and timely marketplace intelligence for the global investment community by interviewing industry sources. This person will develop and maintain relationships with industry sources to generate timely in-depth interviews spanning retail, restaurants and consumer products topics in China. Effective source development and interviewing skills are key aspects of the role. The individual in this role will also support the Editor, China Consumer, to prepare and coordinate projects in the field, work closely with other members of the Consumer Retail China team and OTR's global Consumer Retail team in other regions, as appropriate. Effective communication skills is another key aspect of the role. The Consumer Retail Researcher, China reports to Editor, China Consumer.

PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

  • Thorough understanding of the China market with a strong background in one or more of the following areas: ecommerce, apparel and footwear, retail wholesale, consumer products and/or restaurants industry.
  • Extensive industry network of contacts in China, beyond public relations and investor relations; ability to network and successfully develop new sources is key
  • Minimum of 2-3 years experience in ecommerce, retail, restaurants and/or consumer products; consulting or market research firm experience, investigative journalism experience a plus
  • Ability to obtain in-depth interviews and accurately capture detailed notes.
  • Ability to analyze and identify essential findings; spot trends, strategize and think broadly forward;
  • Strong organizational skills; an ideal candidate is a quick learner and able to multitask
  • Strong and positive communication skills
  • The ability to speak/read and write native Chinese is required; strong verbal and written English skills preferred.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and be flexible with schedule a must due to working with reporters and editors in different world time zones.
  • The ability to maintain a positive attitude, self-motivation and confidence.
  • A native Chinese born speaker and citizen. If not, the proper credentials and work permits to be employed in China is a must.
